Money protection

Where your money is protected

Follow a single pound from the moment it leaves your account to the moment your builder is paid. No jargon, no small print, no step where the money quietly becomes someone else's.

Held by a regulated provider

Stripe Payments UK, Ltd.

Released only on your approval

No timers, no auto-payouts

Ring-fenced from our money

We cannot spend or borrow it

The flow

From your deposit to your builder's bank account

  1. Step 1 · Homeowner

    Homeowner funds a milestone

You pay only for the next stage of work — never the whole job up front. Card or bank payment is taken by Stripe, our FCA-authorised payment provider.

  2. Step 2 · Stripe · safeguarded

    Money is safeguarded, not spent

The funds sit in a safeguarded Stripe-held balance ring-fenced from our own company money. Your builder cannot touch it. Neither can we.

  3. Step 3 · Builder

Builder does the work and submits evidence

Your builder marks the milestone complete and uploads photo evidence, certificates and delivery proof to the project's document vault.

  4. Step 4 · Homeowner

You approve — or raise a dispute

Nothing is released without your approval. If the work isn't right, you raise a dispute instead and the money stays protected while it is reviewed.

  5. Step 5 · Stripe → Builder

    Builder is paid out

On approval, Stripe pays the builder's verified bank account, less our platform fee. Both parties get a VAT-compliant receipt automatically.

Being straight with you

What this protection is — and what it is not

What it is

  • Money held by an FCA-authorised e-money institution, separate from our company funds.
  • Payment released only when you approve the stage of work, with photo evidence attached.
  • A full audit trail of funding, evidence, approvals and payouts on every project.
  • Refunds back to your original payment method for funded work that never happens.

What it is not

  • Not a bank deposit, and not covered by the FSCS.
  • Track My Build Ltd is not authorised or regulated by the FCA.
  • Not insurance, a warranty, or a guarantee of workmanship quality.
  • Not a substitute for a written building contract between you and your builder.

Read the detail on our Trust & Security page, including our exact FCA position and Stripe's firm reference number.

Straight answers

Money questions

  • Only after you press approve on that milestone. There is no timer, no automatic release, and no way for a builder to pull funds early.

Protect your first milestone in minutes

Set up your project, invite your builder, and fund only the stage of work in front of you.
